Hawaiʻi was once ruled by monarchs. Nā aliʻi, the kings, queens, princes, and princesses, represented and protected the sacred lands of Hawaiʻi. They kept the history and culture of the islands alive and laid the path for Hawaiʻi to become the welcoming and thriving place it is today. Each of our dances this year will recognize and celebrate certain honorable aliʻi, their individual lives, and the legacies they’ve left behind.
